Evening Womb Wrap

One of my favorite ways to nourish the luteal phase is to bring gentle, steady warmth to the womb space. While I often guide my patients to use indirect moxibustion at home, for those who don’t have moxa sticks on hand, an herbal compress can be a beautiful alternative.

Evening Womb Wraps invite softness and circulation into the uterus before sleep.

How to create your herbal womb wrap:

Choose your herbs - Ginger, cinnamon, rosemary, or mugwort are warming allies that encourage healthy blood flow. Use fresh slices (ginger) or dried herbs.

Prepare your infusion - Simmer 3-4 cups of water, add your herbs, and cover. Let steep 10-15 minutes, until the aroma feels full and comforting.

Strain & soak - Strain the infusion into a bowl. Soak a soft cotton or muslin cloth, then wring until damp but not dripping.

Wrap for warmth - Fold the cloth and place it over your lower abdomen. Cover with a dry towel to hold in the heat.

Rest & receive - Lie back for 20 minutes, breathing in a slow rhythm (inhale for 4, exhale for 6).

Why it works:

The warmth improves pelvic blood flow, supports hormone signaling, and communicates “safety” to your nervous system. The herbs subtly penetrate the skin, bringing circulation and gentle stimulation to the uterus - all supportive of implantation and a healthy luteal phase.

If you’re already using moxibustion, think of this as your herbal, spa-like alternative ~ perfect post-swimming in late summer, or for evenings when you want an extra layer of comfort.
